Dawg should post the "Command Staff" members who can do the initial review/interviews with potential members...
1. Anyone can express interest...via any full member. The potential member should be interviewed by appropriate command staff member, in person. Integrity, honesty, willingness to help others, unselfishly, are very important attributes. However, an interview is also to review personalities, interests, background & skills. The potential applicant will be asked for permission to conduct a background check, if command staff feel it is necessary. Having a current Maine CWP and a firearms hunting lisence is a good start, because the potential member has already had some degree of background check recently conducted. We ask a number of questions to see how a potential member reacts to situations, we will weed out bad attitudes and radical people who have any thoughts of being violent, mercenary types...having said that, there is a basic "Oath" document for people to read and potentially sign AFTER the interview...that basically is a philosophical and purpose document to make someone reflect/think about some important issues/items/principles. I tell people that even if they sign the oath document...there is still a one year probation period (I believe Dawg still does this). Soon after...a "new" member should sign on to the board and be approved for appropriate access. If married or other spouse is a factor, I highly encourage involvement & memebership....if at all practicable. Husband & Wife (or girlfriend) teams are more for mutual support & assistance in time of greatest need. However, it is not 100% necessary. If Dawg, Rev, Curby or other Staff feel what I have written is not appropriate, please delete the post...& we can try something else.
