Who is OneMaine?
Quite simply, OneMaine is Eliot Cutler's progressive front group attempting to present a "politically centrist" message but staffed with Democratic donors, Cutler 2010 campaign staffers and progressive activists.
It is important you understand who and what OneMaine is as Mr. Cutler and his staff work full time around the state in an attempt to make themselves appear centrist and bipartisan in their approach.
OneMaine is helping lead the charge to ignore the reforms in Augusta and to paint things as broken and in need of repair.
OneMaine's Chair, Eliot Cutler:
The former "independent" candidate for Governor. No one knows quite how much of his personal fortune he has placed into this group, culled from his work as a Washington lobbyist, but we can be sure it is a lot.
Cutler is also a former Jimmy Carter White House staffer who worked directly on Carter's energy policy that caused gas shortages throughout America.
Cutler attacked Governor LePage during his campaign, saying Governor LePage could not possibly fix Maine's budget while also cutting taxes - this feat, which Cutler deemed impossible - was accomplished by Governor LePage in his first year.
Cutler also supports the Obama/Pelosi government takeover of healthcare and said it was good for Maine.
Maine People Before Politics believes in energy policies which will lower the cost of gas with increased supplies, we support the tax cuts proposed by the Governor and implemented by the Legislature that will help improve our economy and we believe that free market competition will help improve health care, not a government run program that forces Maine people to buy government approved health care.
Regardless of whether you see OneMaine as Eliot Cutler's 2014 gubernatorial campaign organization in waiting, an attempt to put a fresh coat of paint on failed liberal policies of the past or something else entirely, it's important to take a peek behind the curtain and see for yourself.
Maine's future is too important to fall for OneMaine's hollow rhetoric that stands for nothing and seeks power above all else.
P.S. We wanted to share this interview Eliot Cutler did on WGAN radio this morning. This is Eliot Cutler exposed for who he really is. This interview says it all about Cutler's opinion on freedom of speech when it comes to speech he agrees with versus speech he disagrees with.
OneMaine, two different sets of standards, listen here.
